IT Academy

The GRCC Cybersecurity and Information Technology Academy is an official EC-Council Accredited Training Center. Through the GRCC IT Academy, students can also earn a wide variety of certifications from Microsoft, Adobe, and more.
 
In addition, GRCC has arrangements with several local entities to provide IT internships to their advanced students, including Marion Public Library, Marion Community Schools, and Afena Credit Union. Some of these internships have translated to full-time employment for our graduates. The IDOE has honored this program with an Award for Excellence.
 
Education and certification in information technology (IT) can prepare you for many occupations in the field. At Grant Regional Career Center, you’ll learn about networking, programming, web development and more.

Typical salary range: $50,000 - $150,000+
 
In some classes, students can earn high school credit and college credit at the same time! (This can save you big on your college bills!)

DID YOU KNOW: Marion High School graduates have made an impact in this field! The following MHS alumni have been inducted into the Marion High School Hall of Distinction.
 
  • Scott and Julie Moorehead, Class of 1996 and 1998, Scott is CEO of TCC, and co-founder the Culture of Good organization, which teaches businesses the importance of giving, and with Julie launched TCC Gives, which provides grants and other philanthropic efforts
  • Steve Moorehead, Class of 1957: Transformed the family business, Moorehead Electric, into Moorehead Communications, now the nations’ largest Verizon Wireless retailer; helped start the Grant County Community Foundation
  • Bill Perry, Class of 1969: Chairman of the Diversity Leadership Council for the U.S. Military Academy (West Point); longtime manager in tech and financial services, including AT&T and IBM; inducted in 2008
  • Clyde Thornell, Class of 1965, longtime educator at Marion High School who helped usher the Business Department (and his fellow educators) into the computer age, provided vocational training for the community, and has been an active and essential community volunteer
